Layers & parallels
Layers & parallels
Section titled “Layers & parallels”A witness is one manuscript or edition of a work. Passages are stored with positions so multiple layers can align:
| Layer | Role |
|---|---|
| Original / root | Source-language text |
| Translation | Aligned translation (when licensed and imported) |
| Parallels | Related passages or witnesses at the same or linked positions |
Why alignment matters
Section titled “Why alignment matters”SuttaCentral-style imports keep Pāli and English on the same segment IDs so selecting a line can look up, translate, or cite without losing place. Tibetan demo imports may be root-only until translations are added.
In the UI
Section titled “In the UI”Use the reader resources drawer → Parallels / Translations to move between layers without leaving the work.
