Read a text

The reader is where root text, translation, and tools stay aligned.

  1. Find a work via Search or Library.
  2. On the work page, choose Read (primary witness) or another available witness.
  3. The URL looks like /read/[witnessId]. Passage anchors use #p-… when jumping to a number label.
  • Scroll the main column; division / section structure follows the source where available.
  • Use in-page search to jump within a long work.
  • Theme toggle and keyboard helpers live in the shell; locale options may be marked soon depending on build.

Many witnesses store original (root) and translation layers on the same passage positions so lines stay aligned — for example Pāli roots with Sujato English on SuttaCentral imports.

Open the resources drawer for Parallels, Translations, About, Cite, Dictionary, Ask, and Share.

See Layers & parallels.

Select text (or tap a word) to open the selection menu: Look up, Translate, Ask AI, Save, Add to sheet. Full walkthrough: Use reader tools.
